The administration announced on Aug. 15th that it would try to do away with one of the most important checks and balances of the Endangered Species Act, that of the Fish and Wildlife Service’s consultation on government actions that may harm endangered species. Environmental groups and editorial boards around the country have been calling these proposes changes ill-advised, sneaky and underhanded and ultimately harmful to protecting our most imperiled wildlife.
